(For my Cytogeneticist friends, and for everybody who can love beyond obstacles)Β
It’s always there,
Just below the surface
Of every conversation we have.
Whose fault is it?
Why do we keep losing
The child we so desire?
So as we wait,
Holding hands and praying,
In the pathology collection centre –
We are connected,
By this murmur –
This constant worry.
Will it be my fault?
What if itβs not my fault? –
Will it make a difference?
Will you still love me?
Will I still love you?
Is it worth continuing?
So as these thoughts
Murmur between us,
As if connected by more than just our hands –
We gently squeeze
And murmur,
βI love youβ.
Is there no end to the scope of your imagination, nice one Andy.

There’s life beyond this doubt and confusion and your poem expresses that positivity and triumph of love in the end. This is such a lovely tribute to all those couples who suffer with no fault of their own…

Thank you Mani – I see this everyday in my work and it makes me sad sometimes, especially when I see young couples unable to maintain a pregnancy or even conceive.

Love beyond obstacles is one of the most powerful kinds of love. Lovely write once again, Andy. Really like how you ended it off with ‘I love you’ – gives the feeling that love is there in the end, and love is all there is and it comes out on top.
Hope all is well with summer in full swing. Enjoy the end of the year, and wishing you a wonderful year ahead π

Thanks Mabel – Love is always the winner π It is boiling here today – I have the airconditioning cranked up and I am still in shorts and singlet π Do you have holidays? If so, I hope they are warm and happy – I am working, but that is fine. Wishing you a healthy and prosperous New Year. Yum Seng!! Mabel

Love is always the winner, eh… One day if we meet, you have to teach me that. I’m more of a practical person and realist π It’s a one week break for me. Wishing you had a break. It is cold today and tomorrow, but we are back to acceptable temperatures mid-week onwards π You too have a prosperous New Year, and you can also join in Yum Seng anytime, Andy π
