Murmur 4 (Genetics)

(For my Cytogeneticist friends, and for everybody who can love beyond obstacles) 

 

Hands

 

It’s always there,

Just below the surface

Of every conversation we have.

 

Whose fault is it?

Why do we keep losing

The child we so desire?

 

So as we wait,

Holding hands and praying,

In the pathology collection centre –

 

We are connected,

By this murmur –

This constant worry.

 

Will it be my fault?

What if it’s not my fault? –

Will it make a difference?

 

Will you still love me?

Will I still love you?

Is it worth continuing?

 

So as these thoughts

Murmur between us,

As if connected by more than just our hands –

 

We gently squeeze

And murmur,

‘I love you’.

  3. Love beyond obstacles is one of the most powerful kinds of love. Lovely write once again, Andy. Really like how you ended it off with ‘I love you’ – gives the feeling that love is there in the end, and love is all there is and it comes out on top.

    Hope all is well with summer in full swing. Enjoy the end of the year, and wishing you a wonderful year ahead 🙂

    • Thanks Mabel – Love is always the winner 🙂 It is boiling here today – I have the airconditioning cranked up and I am still in shorts and singlet 😀 Do you have holidays?       • Love is always the winner, eh… One day if we meet, you have to teach me that. I’m more of a practical person and realist 😀 It’s a one week break for me. Wishing you had a break. It is cold today and tomorrow, but we are back to acceptable temperatures mid-week onwards 😀 You too have a prosperous New Year, and you can also join in Yum Seng anytime, Andy 🙂
