We held each other’s hand
And you kissed me on my lips
Once upon a time
Dolphins find a mate for life
And they make love, just for fun
We held each other’s hand
And you kissed me on my lips
Once upon a time
Dolphins find a mate for life
And they make love, just for fun
You may never see
A poem lovely as my tree
It’s shape
It’s shade
It’s beauty
For me alone.
No picture captured by my phone.
For only In my memory
Can this vision be preserved.
Across a Surreal landscape
White defeats the green
Black naked branches
Reach towards low slung clouds
As snow flurries lash
Exposed skin on cheerful faces
We shelter in each other’s warmth
And conversations of sunshine
Promoted by
Wine, good gin and pizza.
His knees ached
As he knelt upon
The blackbean rail.
His hands clasped in prayer
In the Yakandandah Baptist Church
.
She smelt the soil
As she bowed before
The moss-covered Buddha.
Her forehead cool against the soil
In the forest outside of Da Nang
.
Sweat stung his eyes
As he prostrated himself
On the east facing mat.
Beneath the blue mosaic tiles
Of the mosque at the heart of Bahrain
.
Incense swirled seductively
As she raised her steepled hands
And lowered her eyes.
In the colourful forecourt
Of a temple in downtown Singapore
.
Colour dazzled his vision
As he knelt before the offerings
Bowls of fruit, sweets and spices.
On the steps of the dais
Amongst the bustle of spiritual Varanasi
.
Her heart sang
As she draped the chain of flowers
Around the neck of the elephant God.
On the cold scree slopes
Of the sacred Mount Kailash
.
All souls gather
Before their chosen faith
As they tread a mindful path.
Across the face of one planet
Our mother – Gaia, Earth

Inspired by a photograph on MrsMilnr blog her excellent post titled “Believe”. Cheers Mrs M – your photography always inspires me 🙂
The mouth of the river opens wide
Capturing the cool ocean wind
And funnelling it to a gasping city,
Carrying the flavour of salt
And fresh open spaces.
The wind also collects –
Leaves from the cities gardens
Dust from the business of life
Refuse from the excesses of life.
All of this it delivers –
Regardless.
(Nature continues to do her work even as we seem to be trying to destroy her. I found this piece of inspirational art work, made from river refuse, on a walk along the banks of the Brisbane river).
I met a man upon the beach One steamy summer morn'. He was quiet and calm, And as we stood and watched - Another day was born. As the first rays touch our chests I turned to look at him once more. His hair was long, His feet were bare, His robes were wet and worn. He turned to me a gaze that pierced, Then filled me with content. His eyes were deep His face was calm His soul was on display. He invited me to share repast We sat and watched the rising sun - And ate his fish And ate his bread And drank no finer brew. Conversation flowed with ease As if brought upon the gentle breeze We spoke of things That summer dawn Which calmed my jagged mind. I walk that beach now ev'ry day And feel the same sweet peace - As nature flows And the ocean sighs And seabirds eulogise.
On any still night
When the clouds are low
And the city lights,
Create an orange glow.
You may perceive it.
Maybe not in the first instant
But with time you might
Come to notice the remnant.
It’s the noise that’s left behind
As society goes about its business –
The machineries daily grind.
It’s an eerie, almost silence.
You’ll know it from the time
You’re sweetheart touched your hand
In that crowded five and dime
The murmur, the only sound that remained.
And as you stand at sea’s shore
On this calm, steamy evening
You can hear it once more,
The hum of lives out there – living.
northerlies hasten
life and death in equal share
